Capt. P. M. Reber
August, 1988 -- July, 1990

Capt. P. M. Reber is a native of Fremont Mich. He was commissioned in February, 1962 after completing Navy Recruit Officer Training Command training and graduating from the University of Colorado. He entered flight training in April 1962 and was designated a Naval aviator in October 1963.

He served in a variety of helicopter assignments including Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) Four, Lakehurst, N.J.; Helicopter Training Squadron (HT) Eight. Pensacola, Fla.; HC-7, Atsugi, Japan and HC-3 San Diego.

While attached to HC-4 detachment in Norfolk, Va., he was a member of the Navy’s first H-46 Vertical Replenishment Detachment and flew the H-46 in the Paris Air Show He also served as the assistant air officer on board the amphibious assault ship USS Okinawa from 1974 to 1976 and participating in the evacuations of Cambodia and Vietnam.

Capt. Reber graduated from the Naval War College in 1977 and in October of that year, he reported to HC-11 as its first commanding officer.

Other assignments have included the staff of commander Naval Air Force U S Pacific Fleet and commander, Helicopter Wing Reserve He served as special assistant for Manpower Personnel and Training in Washington D C and as commanding officer Naval Air Station, Memphis, Tenn.

Prior to assuming command of NTC the captain served as chief of staff for NTC Capt. Reber’s decorations include the Legion of Merit Meritorious Service Medal with one star; Navy Commendation Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with two stars Naval Unit Commendation with two stars; Meritorious Unit Commendation with three stars; National Defense Service Medal the Vietnam Service Medal with three stars the Humanitarian Service Medal Sea Service Ribbon and Vietnam Campaign Medal

Capt. Reber is married to the former Linda Neal of Fresno, Calif. They have three children Phyllis, Fritz and Mary.
